Road To Ruin: From Tejas, With Love.

Playlist: Judgement/End of the World/Rapture/Zombie-Apocalypse Day

So there’s this non-sense about it and though I talk about it jokingly at work [where I shall most likely be when this phenomenon is said to occur] and I decided to get serious about it…  PLAYLIST TIME BABY!

I picked 13 songs since 13 was a lucky number for the Mayans and as you know, December 21st, 2012 is the next end of the world theory.  Here’s my picks that suit the story :]

  1. It’s The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) by R.E.M.  It’s a great catchy song, makes me wanna dance and it’s obvious why it’s at #1 on this list.
  2. Mad World by Gary Jules The infamous Donnie Darko song that is hauntingly perfect.  “No tomorrow….  When people run in circles, it’s a very mad world.”
  3. April 29, 1992 by Sublime I picked this since it is based on the Rodney King Riots.  LA went crazy during this time, when I was almost 2 years old and Sonia was about 3 months old.  We lived right next to Sylmar at this time.  It’s a “Have fun Post-Ravage Rioting” kinda song.
  4. The End by The Doors It was the intro to Apocalypse Now.  Jim Morrison was a lyrical mastermind and the movie was a trippy mess that rocked.  I think of my Dad’s The Doors CD’s & cassettes and that scene when Martin Sheen is acting out a fight in his hotel room every time I hear this song.
  5. Warning by Incubus The music video says it all.  There was a warning and then at 10:24, it was over.  The girl creeps me out for the most part in the video but “she cried out a warning, don’t ever let life pass you by.”
  6. One More Time by Daft Punk This is the song that brought the year 2000 for me.  1999, you were awesome and Y2K never happened.
  7. Bitemarks and Bloodstains by Finch If you’ve seen the music video to this song, you’d understand why I picked it.  It reminds me of this episode I saw of Life After People [History Channel].
  8. The End by My Chemical Romance Sometimes the idea of marriage sounds like the end of the world to me.  This song names off cyanide, something that weird cults have tried when claiming the end of the world was coming soon.  I also picked this because Three Cheers is my fav MCR album :]
  9. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths For that special someone, who we want to go home with and who you’d want to share today with.
  10. Apocalypse Please by Muse It has the word in it and I am reminded of that crazy scene from The Watchmen [where Dr. Manhattan is in space with the Silk Spectre] every time.  That movie also had the end of the world concept happening towards the end.
  11. The End by Saves The Day Another “The End” kind of song.  Fast paced, Chris Conley wakes up in a field and gets followed while running through the darkness.  Sounds like a good idea, running for the fields and woods.
  12. Till The World Ends by Britney Spears Dance till the world ends?  Oh yeah! Sounds like a plan!
  13. Waiting For The World To Change by John Mayer It’s such a nice song and the world should change, for the better.  By that I mean: Start with thinking logically and don’t believe everything you hear.
